Awesome Mindless Eating Webinar (Also 1st Weighty Matters Giveaway)

Received a nice email last week to inform me of a pending webinar that Dr. Brian Wansink is presenting.

For newer readers of my blog Brian is one of my favourite researchers. He's the Director of the Cornell Food and Brands Lab, the Executive Director of the USDA's Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion and the author of Mindless Eating.

He's speaking in an online webinar this Thursday from 4pm-6pm and here's his talk's description,

"In this lively and information-packed two hours, Dr. Wansink teaches you his revolutionary Mindless Eating Solution and helps you develop ways to mindlessly eat better in your home, work, or client base. Learn how to identify hidden persuaders in your immediate environment that lead you to overeat and gain weight. Dr. Wansink also shares his fascinating research into everything from “100 calorie” packs and mouthwatering descriptions on menus to getting pre-k children to eat more fruits and vegetables and parents acting as nutritional gatekeepers. Most importantly, you will discover how to get a grip on mindless eating."
Having seen Brian speak a number of times I can tell you firsthand - he's a fantastic speaker being both remarkably informative as well as remarkably entertaining.

The cost is $15 and you can buy your tickets and read more about the talk by clicking here.

That said, I've got two free passes to give away. If you're interested in winning one, leave a comment by 8pm tonight. I'll then randomly draw two names and post the winners in tomorrows blog along with instructions on how to claim your prize.

  1. I have Brian's book, Mindless Eating, in audiobook format on my iPod. I learned a lot about my own eating habits and have been able to make positive changes just from listening to the book and implementing his suggestions.

  2. I love his book! I think it's so important to understand that there is so more much involved in the weight loss/gain equation other than food intake and energy expenditure. We are constantly making decisions about food throughout the day and simple details really can influence how much and what we eat.
    Thanks for posting this!

  3. I am a new subscriber to this blog and have found it insightful and right on the money. As a naturopathic doctor in Ottawa, I have developed educational/support group programs so that my patients can learn the steps necessary to make informed decisions and healthy lifestyle choices...cornerstones to living well. Mindless eating is certainly one of the key aspects that should be addressed when trying to assess one's relationship with food. Thanks for your continual posts.

Dr Brian Wansink is an inspiration to us all. I love the way I can readily adapt his research findings in both my personal life, in my quest for a healthy balanced lifestyle, and in my professional life, as a health educator.
Keep up the good work :)

    Hi Yoni,

I'd love to win one of the free passes. If not, I'll break open the piggybank and purchase a ticket.

Thanks for letting us know about this webinar*; I haven't (yet) read Dr. Wansink's book so am looking forward to hearing him speak.

  10. I am going to listen, even if the free pass goes to someone else! Fortunately have no-one booked in my office at that time so it is perfect. I also have mindless habits like so many others so this will benefit me as well. Thank you for introducing us to this writer/speaker! Mahri
