Well, just got a ring from the CBC that allows me to mention that I helped out on a story that is going to air tonight on their exceptional investigative journalism show Marketplace.
The piece is on calories in restaurants and should be both entertaining and eye opening.
Don't miss it.
7:30pm EST on CBC tonight with repeats Saturday on CBC Newsworld at 3:30pm, Sunday on CBC at noon and on CBC Newsworld at 7:30pm.

Hi Yoni -- I quite enjoy your column! I'm so impressed that you actually do it everyday. I'm wondering if you have a version of a 'food guide' that I (and others)could use instead of the Canada food guide. I'm married with a young son and I would love some direction on making sure I'm feeding my family in the best way I can. Or if you could point me in the direction of a quick reference guide (something short and sweet) that I could put up on my fridge to make it easy. Thanks and keep it up! Brandy Newman (Calgary, AB)
ReplyDeleteThanks Brandy,
ReplyDeleteI always refer folks to Dr. Walter Willett's Healthy Eating Pyramid. It's easy to remember, evidence-based and validated scientifically.
You can get there via:

(You may have to cut and paste).
Best regards,
Yoni
CTV's Canada AM did a very similar story Wednesday morning, in a partnership with The Globe and Mail.
ReplyDeleteGranted, it didn't include Dr. Freedhoff.
But it's an indication that this issue is reaching zietgeist status!

I watched the Marketplace show on CBC, though I was rather disappointed that the coverage was on western food. Ethnic foods are also more common nowadays and also in high sodium and calories. Good blog here, will drop by here again:)
